February, 2012 -- Sax-Zim Bog: Birds of the Northwoods
Sax-Zim Bog is located northwest of Duluth, Minnesota and is a hotspot in Minnesota winters for northern birds. These photos were taken over the course of two days.

A walk in the woods sometimes bring surprises. On this walk, I ran into deer and wild turkeys. Both species are highly habituated in this park in the Twin Cities, but I was suprised by how close the turkeys got to me. more...
October, 2011 -- Colorado and South Dakota Adventures
In October, Deb and I drove to Colorado where we met her parents and brother for fun and games. Rocky Mountain National Park was nearby and a fresh snowfall made it sparkle. Deb flew back to the Twin Cities and I headed north towards Wind Cave and Badlands National Parks along with Custer State Park. more....
July, 2011 -- Canoeing Glacier National Park
In July of 2011 Deb and I traveled west to Glacier National Park. Along the way we also visited Bear Paw Battlefield, Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge, and Fort Union Trading Post Historical Park. Our goal was to canoe two large lakes in northwestern Glacier. Kintla and Bowman Lakes have been on my list to canoe for over 20 years. It was a great trip. more...
